Is there a black zodiac from the movie 13 Ghosts? Yes and no. There is something called the black zodiac in the movie, but the concept of the black zodiac is just that.
13 Ghosts was a classic 2001 horror film. It was a remake of a film in the 1960s and started such notable actors as F. Murray Abrahams and Tony Shalhoub. Shalhoub is particularly well known for his lead role in the show Monk and his hilarious performance in Galaxy Quest alongside Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman and Tim Allen. Regardless, the 13 Ghosts was much anticipated by horror film fans.
The film was based on a fairly unique storyline. F. Murray Abrahams character is a ghost hunter. He is killed while successfully trying to capture a ghost called Juggernaut. In his will, he leaves his mansion to Shalhoub, who plays his nephew onscreen. Shalhoub moves into the mansion with his kids and nanny. After moving in, they discover that 12 ghosts are being held against their will in the basement after being captured by the character of F. Murray Abrahams. The ghosts soon get out and mayhem is undertaken.
As you’ve probably picked up on quickly, there are 12 ghosts. 12 is the central number of the zodiac. There are 12 signs that run across the calendar year. In the movie, these 12 ghosts are not particularly pleasant and are referred to as the “black zodiac”. The 12 Black Zodiac ghosts are in no particular order:

At this point, you are probably wondering why the movie is called 13 Ghosts if there are only 12 listed. Well, picky, picky, picky. No, there is a 13th ghost, but it has to be made through a willing sacrifice for love. [Ending Spoiler!!!] This occurs when Shalhoub’s character willingly throws himself into a deadly contraption to save his children. Nothing happens to him and the children are saved. Ah, a happy ending!
So is there a black zodiac from the movie 13 Ghosts? Well, there is a black zodiac IN the movie, but there is none in traditional astrology. The black zodiac was just a creation of the writers, but a good one!
